  hop skip and a jump British  Jonathan  Edwards landed the longest triple jump at the  laaf world championships in gothenburg Sweden  on 7 aug 1995 an as yet unbeaten 18.29 in 60 ft 0.07in edwards broke the word record with both of his first  two efforts it the final recording 18.16 m 59ft 6.96 in before going out even farther in the next round. earlier that year  Edwards nicknamed witch at school  for his diminutive stature had make a wind assisted jump go 18.43m 60ft 5.59in at the European  cup that  was ineligible for the world record. from called book Guinness  world records.
