 words and photograph by Doug  gimesy when I first saw this flying fox form afar I thought here feet were tangled  in garbage. but when the bat flew closer I was surprsed to  see that she was flying with a baby and  the pup was barely hanging on These animal fly over 30 miles each day in search of food and the moms bring their babies with them when the pup are young and light a baby bat clamps on to its mother with  its teeth and  holds on to her fur with its feet. but sometimes a pup it too heavy or it loses its grip and fails off. wording as a flying fox  rescuer in Melbourne  Australia   I receive calls about  fallen baby bats all the time but Id never seen one still half hanging on before. as told to elizabeth hilfrank. from called the book national geographic kids.
