deepest open pit mine

Bingham  canyon mine owned by rio Tinto Kennecott  (USA0 is around  4 km (2.4mi) wide  and 1.2 km (0.7mi) deep. Located in salt lake city Utah Usa  it has been in operation  since 1906. in 2012 it  produced around  179,317 tonnes (395.3million bl ) of copper plus  gold and other  metals. The Bingham  canyon  mine is about  four  time  the height  of the eiffel Tower in Paris and  is about   as broad as the island  of manhattan in new york city  usa  which  is 3.7 km (2.3mi) at its widest.
