largest meteorite

A block measuring  9 ft (2.7m) long and  8 ft (2.4m) wide and with an estimated  weight of 130,000bl  (59 tonnes)was found in 1920 at boba  wast near grootfontein in  namibia. The meteorite  which is largely composed of iron and is notable for the flatness of its major sides of  declered national moumtent  it 1955 in an effort to protect it from trophy hunters removing pieces (see inset).
