at minute before minding  every December  13 a glowing  crystal ball begins a show drop down  a flagpole in new York city.  Times square if s a powerful  event. in more ways  than  one .  It  has the power to attract crowds in New York and Tv viewers all  over the world . And it takes a lot of electrical power to light the glittering ball and flagpole.in 2013 the New  Year  celebration got a little boost from another kind of power - pedal power . Opfficals form Cibank which runs bike shore program in New York set up seven stationary bikes hooked up to batteries on the sidewalk in time Square over three days 2194 people  pass ing by jumped on the bikes and pedaled aways  char ing the batteries. When the batteries were fully  charged they  were connected to the power  grid that lights up the ball. The bikers made enough to light the balls one minute countdown with enough left over for two  more minutes.
