you snooze you lose. Wrong. We all need our sleep. Get ing plenty of sleep every night  can improve memory  boost creativity  and help you step up your game on the field or court. Growing  kids need their  sleep  even more than adults. However  a recent study of fourth -and seventh- graders in massachusetts shows that many kids are losing sleep over their electronic gadgets. kids in the study who said they slept near a smartphone tablet laptop or tv got 18-21 minutes less per night  than kids without gadgets in their rooms.  If they were using their devices right before bedtime  their brains my have been too stimulated to settle down and sleep Also a glowing  led screen gives out blue light a type of light  whose wavelengths are similar to daylight. Our bodies think it daytime and stop producing melatonin the chemical that makes us sleepy.  Researchers  advise powering down all electronics at least two hours before bedtime and leaving them in another room. On or off never bring your phone into  bed. A teenage in Texas stuck her phone under her pillow  and woke up to find the phone melted and the bed of fire (She was okay.) Give your phone sine breathing space. staying up late checking instagram  vine and snapchat try to stop looking at your phone at last two  hours before bedtime. studies show you ll sleep better which can lead to higher grades  and improved  performance  in spot and other  activities.
