The  male easters lowland gorilla (Gorilla Beringe  gaueri ) of the eastern Congo  has a standing height of  around 1.75m (5 ft 9 in ) and  can weigh 163 kg  (360 lb ). It  lives in tropical forests  in both low  lying and mountainous terrain. Since the 1990s when there were around  17,000 individuals poaching  mining and  logging along with civil unrest  in the Democratic Requbile  of the Congo have depleted the  species population. There may be fewer than 4,000 left according to the wildife  Conservation  society and fauna and flora international. Gorillas construct the largest mammalian nests. Every day these great apps build a new ground based sleeping are from branches and leaves.The  temporary beds are circular and span some 1.5m (4ft 11in). Eastern lowland  gorillas are one of four subspecies of these great apps.
