on in april 4 1968 dr marte Luther  king  jr.  was shot by James earl while standing on  a hotel balcony in Memphis Tennessee the new of his death sent shock  waves through out the wold  Dr. king baptist minister and founder of southern christian leadership caference (scler) was  the most prominent civil  rights leader of his time  His nonviolent protests and marches against  segregation as well  as his powerful speeches  including his famous I his  a dream speech  motivated people fro fight  for justice for all.  more than 50 year after  his death Dr. king s live on through a memorial on national mall in Washington  d.c built in 2011 the  memorial  feature   a 30  foot (9m) statue  of dr. king  carved into a granite boulder named the stone of hope today dr. king continues  to inspire people  around  the world  with his words and his vision for  a peaceful world without  racism. he will forever be remembered as one of the most prominent leaders of the cicil rights movement.The Smithsonian's  national museum of African American  history and culture in  Washington  d.c. filled with powerful  artifacts  including tools from the Woolworth's lunch counter in Greensboro north famously  arrested for refusing dress rose pack was make the she was famously arrested for refushing to give up here bus seat  for a white person. The average  persons  spends six hours at the museum of African history compared to two hours at other museums.
