habitats threatened living on the edge

even though tropical rainforests cove only about 7 percent of the planet's  total land surface they are home to half of all known species of plants and animals Because people  cut  down so many tree  for lumber  and  firewood and clear  so much  land for  farms hundreds of  thousands of  acres of rainforest  disappear every  year.  sharing the land wetlands  are also important feeding  and breeding grounds. people have drained many  wetlands turning them  into farm field or sites for other industries more than half the world's wetland have  disappeared wildfire out balancing the  needs humans and animals is the  key lessening habitat  destruction . from called book national geographic kids almanac
