as children we are taught always paint
the sky blue and the grass green
we were told to be careful and stay inside the lines
to unimportant rules that
stifle our creativity and
halt our progress toward
achieving our full potential
so discard the dictator that
defined your old parameters
and reach for the colors
you've never tried
splash volet melon
and chartreuse
all over your work
and splatter in on the floor
if the spirit so moves you
for now is the time to
embrace your creativity
break the rules
and whatever you do
don't worry about
staying inside the lines.
