plants

Are you tomatoes  talking to your turnips behind  your back.  A May 2013 scientific  stays that plant may be able to use sound vibration to "listen " to other plant.Researchers found  that chili seeding growing next to a good neighbor  such as basil which helps keep away weeds and pests sprouted faster than other chilis growing alone. Most scientists had already agreed that plants can smell chemicals and see reflected light from nearby plant but in this experiment  researchers separated the chilis and basils with black plastic  blocking chemical and light signals somehow the chilis cold tell what  kinds of plant were living next door. Dr Monica  Gagliano  the head of the project  suggested that they were responding  to sound vibration created inside the plant cells. in a different  sound - recording of a caterpillar a leaf triggered a plan to produce defense chemicals even though  the plant was perfectly safe. Galliano  and other scientists that learning more about plant communication could bring big benefits.  For instance farmers could use  sound instead of pesticides  to encourage or discourage certain  plant .do you to know more about the secret lives of plant- and tons of other stuff  about how the world works visit exploratorium. edu fro experiments videos game and the coolest science you can imagine.
