Jennifer Marsh, an artist from Syracuse, New York wanted to make a statement about oil consumption so she decided to give the abandoned gas station she walked past each day a much needed splash of color . Jennifer entirely covered the building and the gas pumps with 5,000.sq (464 sq m) of colorful of patchwork material The project received hundreds of colorful panels from all over the world and Jennifer enlisted a team of volunteers to help her sew them into fabric panels to cover the derelict building which stands 35 ft (10.6 m) tall and 40 ft (12 m) wide. from book called ripley believe it or not
