tightest knotted structure

knots can occur on a molecule level-even dan  has  them on 12 jan 2017 a team  from the university of manchester un  announced  by braiding together strands of molecules they had created a microscopic knot 192 atom long that crosse itself eight  time -approximately once every 2.5 nanometers  (24 atoms) known as  the 8 knot it is represented as a model in the photograph above.

cell phones

Are 400 time more powerful than the computer that helped guide man to the moon. The moon has wi-fi! it comes all the way from earth  beamed by  4 infrared   telescopes. what do the 1969 computer used for the moon landing and your cell phone have in common? both today phones and the 1969 apollo  guidance computer (agc) use integrated circuits or microchips. The agc was one of the first computers to use them. since then microchips keep getting smaller but more and more powerful. The microchip inside your (called a sim) runs about 30 times faster than  the agc and has about 200 times more memory- even though it about the size of your  fingernail.

the dirt on trash

Humans have always generated garbage whether it’s a chewed- on leg bone or a broken cell phone. And until not so long ago most of our trash eventually turned into soil. The tiny creatures in compost make rich soil that grows great ueggies . How does trash become dirt?Think back tot the bone you threw out when you were a cavekid in chapter one. If you left it in the bush a vulture might pick off any remaianining meat. Then tiny creatures called microorganisms would  gather on the surface  of the bone  and eat away at it. After many microorganisms would eventually eat the entire bone returning its nutrients to the soil. plants absorb those nutrients and animals feed  on the plant. Later those animals did and the cycle begins again.Anything that these microorganisms can brack  down into soil biodegradable . Whether it's a bone a dead body  poop or potato peels all biodegradable materials are food for microorganisms what one creature doesn't  need brilliant system has anymore another uses as food. Nothing wasted. This brilliant system has allowed nature to thrive since life on Earth began billions of years ago.
