Humans have always generated garbage whether it’s a chewed- on leg bone or a broken cell phone. And until not so long ago most of our trash eventually turned into soil. The tiny creatures in compost make rich soil that grows great ueggies . How does trash become dirt?Think back tot the bone you threw out when you were a cavekid in chapter one. If you left it in the bush a vulture might pick off any remaianining meat. Then tiny creatures called microorganisms would gather on the surface of the bone and eat away at it. After many microorganisms would eventually eat the entire bone returning its nutrients to the soil. plants absorb those nutrients and animals feed on the plant. Later those animals did and the cycle begins again.Anything that these microorganisms can brack down into soil biodegradable . Whether it's a bone a dead body poop or potato peels all biodegradable materials are food for microorganisms what one creature doesn't need brilliant system has anymore another uses as food. Nothing wasted. This brilliant system has allowed nature to thrive since life on Earth began billions of years ago.
